Consortium Consortium

University of Twente

The Robotics and Mechatronics research group is in the Dept Electrical Engineering of the Faculty EE-Math-CS. The group’s research is in the internal research institute on ICT (CTIT) and also in the internal research institute on biomedical technology and technical medicine (MIRA).

Jan Broenink is associate professor of Embedded Control Systems. He obtained his MSc and PhD degree in 1984 and 1990. His current research interests are embedded control systems, namely realization of control schemes on mostly networked computers. For that, he is interested in (a) the use of parallel software based on CSP; (b) designing software tools including simulation; (c) concurrent & systems engineering. For applications and test cases, he focuses on mechatronic / robotic systems. See

He had/has 4 STW funded projects on Embedded Control Systems (3 research, 1 utilisation), where methodology and tooling are the key topics. (STW = Dutch Technology Foundation, funding high quality university research). He was partner team lead of the ESPRIT project OLMECO. He is involved in the organisation of the strategic research orientation on Dependability of the internal research institute CTIT.
